TonyBet was established in 2009 when the celebrated Lithuanian-born poker player, Antanas Guoga - better known as 'Tony G' - acquired OmniBet. Today, the site is a sophisticated portal for all manner of online gambling opportunities, including not only poker, but also sports betting and slots, roulette and blackjack games.
While many of the promotions on offer at TonyBet are centred on the sports betting part of the site rather than the poker one, there's still no shortage of poker-specific weekly and monthly cash prizes and other perks of which you may wish to take advantage. There's also a hefty welcome bonus provided to those joining the site and making their first deposit.
With cash games, sit-and-go opportunities and tournaments all accessible via TonyBet's downloadable poker lobby software, you shouldn't get bored too easily here.
It's all centred on hold'em and omaha games, although at the time we visited to write this review - which was admittedly early in the morning UK time - there didn't seem to be too many people actually online. We'll presume, though, that things do get busier during the evenings and at weekends.
TonyBet offers the wealth of different types of poker tournaments that you would probably expect, including the finest in knockout, satellite, guaranteed, rebuy, special and 'run it twice' tournaments. Again, hold'em and omaha are the key areas of focus, while the available buy-in opportunities encompass freeroll, small (up to €19), medium (€20-99) and high (€100+) categories.
You can add money to your TonyBet account via the cashier on the main site. The following payment methods are all accepted:
Withdrawals from your account are made via the same method that you used to deposit - although at the time of our visit to the site for this review, technical issues apparently prevented PayPal withdrawals being an option.
It can take up to 48 hours for a withdrawal request to be processed, and some of the information about fees can be a little confusing, so we would advise you to read it all carefully. For example, if you withdraw using an e-wallet and the deposit amount has not been used, a 4% charge will be imposed.
Whether you use the desktop version of the site's poker lobby software - which is available for both PCs and Macs - or instead download the mobile app, you can expect a graphically pleasing and slick experience. The program uses a pink, grey and white colour scheme and is based on a system of tabs that makes it easy to navigate. You can also toggle between various languages within the software.
A contact form is provided within the software itself, should you feel the need to get in touch with a member of the site team. The main source of help, though, is the main TonyBet site, where you will find a UK phone number, email address and 'live chat' facility.
Interestingly, there are also dedicated YouTube and Twitter profiles for TonyBet Poker, although at the time of our visit for this review, the former hadn't been updated for more than two years, and the latter for over six months.
A comprehensive Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) section can also be found on the TonyBet site, giving answers to the most obvious queries related to such matters as registering an account, depositing, cashing out and more.
Although most of TonyBet's poker action takes place within the aforementioned software that you will need to download if you are to immerse yourself in the site's games, there are also a few instant-play poker games to be discovered on the site, in the casino section.
Speaking of casino games, you'll find live-dealer games within the poker software as well, covering blackjack, roulette, casino hold'em, baccarat and Caribbean stud poker.
TonyBet isn't just a great place to play a wealth of poker games and tournaments, encompassing both hold'em and omaha. That's because it's also a pretty much all-bases-covered general online gambling destination, with no shortage of sports betting and casino games to enjoy. The standard of customer support is strong here too, and while you do have to download software to access most of the poker action, there are still some instant-play poker games that can be accessed here as well.
Register an account at TonyBet, and you may be surprised by just how rewarding the poker experience at this often-overlooked site really is.
According to the statutory British gambling regulator, the Gambling Commission, “Safe and responsible gambling comes from an industry that takes care of its customers, customers who are empowered with the knowledge to manage their gambling and a regulator that ensures the consumer is at the heart of everything we do.” The information contained here is intended to address the first two of these criteria. As we promote the services of gambling providers on this site, we believe it is important that our customers are made aware of the risks that can be associated with gambling, as well as information about where they can find further advice and support should they require it.
